Sound Perspective Is Key

A good sound designer should learn to use sound to isolate narrative tense in media design. It can be difficult at times to feel any narrative tension, because the listener/viewer is not exactly sure what perspective or experience is intended for them. It is similar to reading a book and crossing over from first person to third person. Establish the subjective or objective experience you want the listener to have to create an engaging experience.

Many designers don’t realize they are disengaging their audience, because the sound and visual information do not compliment each other in perspective. Spend time in this area and you will be able to lock in and keep your audience engaged longer.
